Hope Floats in the Caribbean

Captain Kate McCue, first female captain of a major cruise line, is the skipper of Celebrity Edge, which is currently joined by several other ships in the "neighborhood" as she put it in her Instagram post. The captains from different ships and cruise lines joined together at 7:30 PM for a ship horn salute. Watch the video on IG. #HopeFloats

We were fortunate to sail on Celebrity Edge last December, before the Coronavirus spread across the globe. Captain Kate is a bright example of the future. We wish her, all the captains, and crew calm seas. Stay healthy.   Our hearts are with you and your families as you are apart during these difficult times.

We look forward to re-booking our guests on cruise sailings once this health threat is over.

On March 20th we started something special. With ships from different companies congregating in the same "neighborhood" it was a perfect opportunity to celebrate our solidarity. As a sign that we're all in this and we'll get through it together, we invite all ships, (currently with over 250,000 crew members onboard around the globe), to join in a horn salute at 7:30 every evening going forward. We sound our horns, to let our crew and the world know that while we are strong, safe, and healthy on board, we are thinking of those at home and hoping the same for them. Until our safe returns to our home ports, we wish them fair winds and following seas. Where is Chris - Enjoying Nougat

Today, on National Nougat Day, we eat nougat and foods that contain it. Nougat is made with egg whites or another whipping agent, along with a sweetener like sugar or honey. In recent years, corn syrup has been used as a sweetener. The two ingredients are mixed together until they are aerated and stiff. Chocolate and dried fruit are often included in nougat. Can you guess where this picture was taken?

Celebrate the day by eating nougat. You could make some, having it on its own or in brownies, cakes, or cookies. You could also eat it in candy bars by eating 3 Musketeers, Baby Ruth, and Milky Way bars. You could have the kids can design their own favorite flavor they'd make if they could. Younger ones might draw some nougat with their favorite colors.  #KeepTheKidsEngaged

Where is Chris - Enjoying Waffles

Today is International Waffle Day so we scoured through our pictures for some waffles that we enjoyed on one of our trips abroad.   As the case with the majority of our trips, we were on a cruise.  

Share this with your kids to get them engaged.  Perhaps they can guess the destination where they might find waffles like these.  Maybe they can name the various toppings.  If you have the ingredients, maybe you can even have waffles for a meal today in celebration of #InternationalWaffleDay   #KeepTheKidsEngaged
