Dare to Make a Wish Come True

2019 Dare Conference
Giving Back

Wishes make life better for kids with critical illnesses.  This simple, but powerful belief drives Make-A-Wish.

Granting Wishes

In 2011, the world’s largest cruise agency and award-winning leisure travel company World Travel Holdings forged a partnership identifying Make-A-Wish® as its signature charity. Since then, the travel company has raised more than $100,000 each year, and in 2018 reached a fundraising milestone exceeding $1 million in donations and granting more than 100 wishes to children with critical illnesses.
“My brother Jeff and I believe in the importance of instilling a strong corporate culture of giving back and because of our shared values and the fact that more than 75 percent of wishes involve travel, Make-A-Wish proved to be a natural fit,” said Brad Tolkin, Co-CEO/Chairman of World Travel Holdings. “I am in awe of how our employees have rallied together around one cause and shown support year-after-year.”

Exceeding our Goal

The goal for this year's National Conference for Cruises Inc., CruiseOne, and Dream Vacations, the home-based arm of World Travel Holdings,  was $120,000.   Throughout the conference several events and a silent auction were held to raise funds.  As of this writing the total raised was $136,000.

I'm proud to be a part of this corporate initiative to make wishes come true for children with critical illnesses.   Watch this video to learn more about Make-A-Wish and visit their website.

Zipping Over Boardwalk

Do you have the desire to fly over Boardwalk?

Who said cruising is boring or there's nothing to do on a cruise ship.  When I'm on Royal Caribbean's Oasis-Class ships, I prove those myths wrong every time.

After lunch at Park Cafe, there was still time before our opening session of the conference. There was no line at the Zip Line, so I gave my husband my loose jewelry and headed to get fitted for my brief ride across the Symphony of the Seas Boardwalk.

This wasn't my first rodeo, but after getting my harness on, I wasn't quite ready mentally to take that step off the platform. The staff said OK, go. I needed a moment and he suggested I sit down. Then off I went like Peter Pan. It was a great ride.

Watch this video to see me zipping along.

Salute to Veterans

Veterans Day 2019

First and foremost, Today is the annual observance of Veteran's Day, a day set aside to honor the nation's veterans.

Every day we go about our business, and I suspect most of us take our freedom for granted.   It isn't because we aren't caring people, but instead perhaps because we just don't think about it.  So I ask you today to take a moment to reflect on the veterans, living and deceased, for without whose service we wouldn't be the free nation we are today.

We could never thank our military men and women enough for their courageous service and sacrifice to our country and its people. Yet today we lift up our voices to express gratefulness and honor to these military troops both from the past and present.

 THANK YOU FROM

A GRATEFUL NATION

Many cruise lines recognize our troops with special rates.  Be sure to mention your military service when contacting us so that we can see if there are any rates that you qualify for.  We would be honored to help you plan some R & R. Please note that these rates require documentation of eligibility, which we can help you with.
