Norwegian Breakaway’s signature hull artwork designed by pop icon and America’s most popular living artist, Peter Max!

Norwegian Cruise Line has just unveiled the hull artwork for their latest ship, Norwegian Breakaway. The line has previously indicated that the ship's homeport will be New York, so the artwork is very fitting.

The Statue of Liberty's crown and New York skyline are the central figures in the design.  The rest of the design includes a sunburst, musical notes, planets and stars.  Max’s signature artwork will cover approximately 40,000 square feet of Norwegian Breakaway’s hull!

Norwegian president and CEO Kevin Sheehan said "The Big Apple is known for its love of art and its many galleries -- and now, Norwegian Breakaway becomes a floating piece of that art that will cruise in and dock every Saturday on New York's West Side."

Peter Max commented, "While it has been an honor to have my art exhibited in museums and galleries, I have also enjoyed creating giant 'canvases' for public view, including my 600 ft. Woodstock stage, a giant World's Fair mural, the body of a Continental 777 super jet, and now, the hull of Norwegian Breakaway," said Peter Max from his New York studio. "The artwork is a composite of New York City and cosmic imagery? the Statue of Liberty, the Manhattan skyline, a giant sunburst, planets, stars, and musical notes. That's my New York! And now Norwegian Breakaway is my New York cruise ship 'canvas.'"

DISNEY CRUISE LINE UNVEILS
THIRD SHIP IN FLEET

Disney Cruise Line has unveiled images and videos of the third ship in the Disney family, the Disney Dream TM. The new ship will begin sailing in 2011.

The Disney Dream will have 14 decks with 1,250 staterooms which can comfortably accomodate 4,000 guests. It will weigh in at 128,000 tons and have a length of 1,115 feet (more than three football fields).

The ship continues the traditional style of the first two ships in the fleet which were modeled after ships sailing in the early 20th century - known as the golden age of cruising.

Walt Disney had a dream...

How fitting it is for this new ship to bear that name. Walt would be very proud of the Disney Imagineering team that have designed a classic ship with true Disney flare. As I viewed the images on the Disney Travel Agent site, I was certain that this new ship will bring many dreams to reality in the years ahead.

Only one of a kind ...

When you think of Disney, what comes to mind? If you are even a slight Disney fan, you'll have no problem answering that question. Of course, it's Family fun.

What could be more fun than riding the only Water Coaster at Sea? The AquaDuck pictured above (courtesy of Walt Disney Imagineering Concept Art) is a 765-foot long water attraction that takes guests on a magical ride around the top deck, through one of the ship's funnels, and down a full four-deck drop. Now that's a water ride!!

A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes ...

My biggest joy is helping make dreams come true every day... I'm certain that the Disney Dream will make dreams come true once she begins sailing to the Caribbean and Bahamas in 2011.
