How Sweet It Is On Norwegian Bliss

Coco's

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’re in for a treat. Coco’s, the sweetest spot in 678 Ocean Place, made its debut aboard Norwegian Bliss with desserts that are nothing short of spectacular. Coco’s will offer sweets and treats day and night.

The a la carte dessert spot also offers decadent gelato, exquisite bonbons, and milkshakes, coffee,  crepes, and pralines. Check out their menus in our Coco's photo album.

Coco’s is much more than a dessert shop.

Specialty Crepes

After spending the morning in Mandara Spa, we weren't interested in a big lunch.  We had promised the staff at Coco's we'd be back later in the week and now was the time to make good on our promise.  We selected two crepes from their menu.

Dulche de Leche Crepe: Chocolate Custard, Toasted Pecan, Whipped Cream

Lemon Cheesecake: Vanilla Reduction

The crepes turned out even better than their pictures in the menu.   We highly recommend checking out Coco's during your cruise.

Norwegian Bliss Manhattan Room

The Manhattan Room

One of three Main Dining Rooms aboard Norwegian Bliss, The Manhattan Room is where guests can enjoy specially curated modern and classic dishes made with the freshest ingredients.  This is a complimentary dining option.

Since we had our first cocktail party of the conference scheduled for Saturday night at 7 PM, we made reservations with fellow agents for dinner at 5:30 PM in the Manhattan Room.

When you arrive at the reception desk, you check in with the desk using your room key card.  That way, the rest of your party, if not already there, will be shown to your table.  (It is best if you all arrive at the same time, however).

Understanding the Dinner Menu

As is the case with most cruise lines,  there are several sections to the menu.  In general, you'll have choices that are only available that night and others that can be ordered every night.

The first section is Appetizers.  You can select one or more options from this part of the menu.  You could also ask for an appetizer portion of certain entrees as well (such as pasta).

Two of the items we selected are shown above:   French Onion Soup and Bruschetta.  The French Onion Soup was good - but we've had better.  The Brushetta on the other hand was outstanding - you can see they did not skimp on ingredients.

Featured & Classic Entrees

We selected items from both areas of the menu.  The Pork Spare Ribs was one of the Featured Entrees while the 3-Cheese Baked Ziti was a selection from the Classic list.   Both of these were very good choices.   The menu doesn't show the dessert options - the waiter shares that menu with you after the main meal has been served.   Since we wanted to get to our party, we skipped dessert, knowing there would be plenty to eat at the party.

We've just returned from our 2018 National Conference for Cruises Inc., CruiseOne, and Dream Vacations, which was held on board Norwegian Cruise Line's latest ship, Norwegian Bliss. We had a group of over 1000 people, including executives from our partner cruise line and land suppliers. The picture on the right was from our opening session which was held in the Bliss Theater, which actually was one of our main venues throughout the week.  Norwegian Cruise Line and our headquarters staff planned an amazing event once again.

Welcome Aboard Norwegian Bliss

 Embarkation Day
National Conference 2018
Norwegian Bliss

We arrived at the Port of LA (Long Beach) around 10:45 AM. We got a glimpse of our home for the next week as our bus went over the bridge. When we pulled into the parking lot, we had several opportunities to get pictures of Norwegian Bliss.

Tip: Make sure to have all your bags tagged with your cabin information, prior to arriving at the pier, in the event the porters grab your carry-on bags as well.

The bus driver unloaded our luggage and porters were on hand to take our bags to the ship. We were able to get our carry-on  before they loaded them on the cart. A short walk to the terminal entrance and we were on our way through the embarkation process.

First stop was to check our passports and cruise documents, then on to security, and finally to the checkin desk. The whole process only took about 15 minutes - it was very efficient.

Since we had a large group, and since we had an early general session on board at 1 PM, Norwegian Cruise Line had special color (purple) cabin key cards for our group. Anyone with that color card could proceed directly to the ship. After a photo stop and another security check, we were on our way to the gangway to board.

The cabins aren't ready when you board early, and the watertight doors to the cabin areas are closed.  We were able to drop off our bags in our cabin, however.   They really don't want you in the area while they are turning the ship around, but since we had a large group and were having a meeting in the theater before the ship sailed, they were pretty understanding and allowed us in the area.

Next it was time for some lunch before our meeting.  There were several venues open, but we opted for the Garden Cafe buffet since that was the fastest.   There were many choices from salads, sandwiches, to hot meals to select from.  We'll just show you some pics of the desserts, which is my favorite part of any meal.

NOTE:  Cruise lines do an excellent job coordinating large groups like ours.  We have over 1000 people attending  our #InspireConference2018.   Consider making your next corporate meeting at sea.  We can help you plan that.

We'll be posting more throughout the week here and on our other social media accounts.  It is great having some live content to share with your during CLIA's National Plan a Cruise Month #ChooseCruise
