Wondering Why No Recent Posts - We Have Moved

Since 2007, we’ve taken you along on our journeys to some of our favorite destinations around the world. Maybe you’ve followed our adventures in Cruise Diaries, where we’ve shared unforgettable moments at sea. Or perhaps you’ve read our coverage of major travel industry events—from the tragic sinking of Costa Concordia to cruise itinerary changes caused by hurricanes, and even the profound impact of COVID-19 on the industry and its road to recovery.

For those who’ve been with us over the years, you know that travel is our passion, and sharing our stories and photos with you is what we love most. That hasn’t changed—but where we share them has.

Maintaining this blog has become more challenging over time as links and platforms evolve. For example, we once stored and showcased our travel photos on Shutterfly, building custom pages to bring our trips to life. While our images are still there, Shutterfly discontinued support for those pages, making the original links obsolete. We’ve been working to create new share links for some of our cruises and will continue updating them as we go.

We also make an effort to keep our most-visited pages current, especially those that serve as key resources during hurricane season. Whether you’re a longtime reader or new to our travels, we’re glad you’re here—let’s keep exploring together!

Where is Chris - Story Telling

Today is National Tell a Story day, so we'll take you back to how I fell in love with Cruising.   My friend Sue called me and asked if I'd like to go with her to a local travel show.  I said, sure, sounds like fun.   We visited several booths and filled in entries for give-a-ways.  Shortly after the event, I received a phone call telling me that I'd won a cruise on a Windjammer ship.   The trip was for two, so my husband and I decided to accept the prize.   We had to fly to the embarkation city on our own dime, but the cruise fare was paid for.   They had an option to pay $25 for a stow away night (the night before the ship sailed).   So, we decided that was the way to go to avoid any stress from missed flights or other delays.

If you've ever been on a Windjammer (or similar) vessel, you probably know that it's pretty casual.  The attire for the day was bathing suits and bare feet.   Dressing up meant putting on our shoes.

There was a passenger talent contest, a toga party, and a pig roast among the highlights of the trip.  We did have to pay for drinks, but after a couple of 151 rum drinks, you didn't really need to have many.   We had a fabulous time and as they say, the rest is history.

Here are some images from our first cruise - can you guess the destination we sailed to?

Gather the kids and talk about your first family vacation, if you've had one.   Where did you go?  What did you do?   What was the most fun?   If you haven't taken a family vacation yet, perhaps you can talk about where you'd like to go.    #KeepTheKidsEngaged

We hope you are enjoying this series of  "Where is Chris" posts.  We'd love your feedback on our social media.

Where is Chris - Giant Trees

The last Friday of April is Arbor Day in the United States.  It is a day to take care of existing trees and also plant for the future.  Other countries also celebrate a similar day - perhaps on a different day.   We visited these giant trees on one of our recent cruise vacations.  Can you guess where we are?

Plant a tree in your yard if you can.  Many businesses are offering deals for Arbor Day. #KeepTheKidsEngaged.

Our annual corporate meeting takes to the high seas this week and you'll be there with us.   Have you ever considered having a meeting at sea?  Besides showing you the latest new ship in the Oasis-Class, we'll share the experience of meeting at sea.   Whether you are planning a gathering for a small number of employees or a large one like us, with more than a thousand people in attendance,  we can work with you and the cruise line to plan a meeting that will be the topic of conversation for years to come.

We are really excited to be on Symphony of the Seas during National Plan a Cruise Month.  We'll be posting pictures throughout the week, so be sure to follow us here, on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram so you don't miss any of the action.

Royal Caribbean built a terminal at Port of Miami that accommodates large ships like Symphony, making the embarkation a smooth process.   Be sure to either print off you Set Sail Pass or install Royal Caribbean's App, and bring it up on there, to expedite the process.
