Where is Chris - World Communications Day

Today is #WorldCommunicationsDay. World Communications Day was established by Pope Paul VI in 1967 as an annual celebration that encourages us to reflect on the opportunities and challenges that the modern means of social communication (the press, motions pictures, radio, television and the internet) afford the Church to communicate the gospel message.

Pope Francis releases his annual message for World Communications Day, a reflection on the Biblical text Exodus 10:2: "That you may tell your children and grandchildren".

Life becomes history

I would like to devote this year’s Message to the theme of storytelling, because I believe that, so as not to lose our bearings, we need to make our own the truth contained in good stories.  Stories that build up, not tear down; stories that help us rediscover our roots and the strength needed to move forward together.
“May this event encourage us to tell and share constructive stories that help us to understand that we are all part of a story that is larger than ourselves, and can look forward to the future with hope if we truly care for one another as brothers and sisters.”

Today would be a good day for telling stories with your children.  #KeepTheKidsEngaged

There is a story behind the image we've selected for today.   It takes us to the land of our roots.
We were on a TransAtlantic cruise when this picture was taken.  Much like, today the world had changed.  We were in this destination two days after the attack on the World Trade Center (9/11).
The flowers in the picture were put there by locals mourning the event.

The people we met were very comforting offering their sympathies.   Across the world, planes had been grounded.   Our trip had just begun and we didn't know what tomorrow would bring.   A gentleman's message of hope got us through the day.   Life did return to normal after some time passed.   Let's #KeepDreaming of the future and a return to traveling to discover distant lands, especially those of our roots.

We hope you are enjoying this series of  "Where is Chris" posts.  We'd love your feedback on our social media.
