TODAY... 

The NHC is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Beatriz as it develops in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. It is currently off the coast of Mexico which has triggered watches and warnings along its path. Later Monday, June 20th, it is expected to become a hurricane. This makes it the second named storm and the second hurricane of the 2011 season.

The first named storm and major hurricane in the East Pacific for 2011, Hurricane Adrian is no longer impacting the region.  It had winds in excess of 135 mph at its peak.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 90 MPH... 150 KM/H...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS.  BEATRIZ IS A CATEGORY ONE HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON
HURRICANE WIND SCALE.  WEAKENING IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN LATER TODAY
OR TONIGHT. 
 
HURRICANE FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 25 MILES...35 KM...FROM
THE CENTER...AND TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 105
MILES...165 KM.

POSSIBLE ISOLATED MAXIMUM AMOUNTS OF 20 INCHES OVER MOUNTAINOUS
TERRAIN.  THESE RAINS COULD CAUSE LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODS AND
MUD SLIDES.

STORM SURGE...A STORM SURGE IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE COASTAL FLOODING
IN AREAS OF ONSHORE WINDS WITHIN THE HURRICANE WARNING AREA.  NEAR
THE COAST...THE SURGE WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY LARGE AND DESTRUCTIVE
WAVES.
