When You Wish Upon a Star a New Ship is Born

Today is World Wish Day - what better day to reveal the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet - Disney Wish.   Besides unveiling their new ship in the video below, you'll hear that Disney is donating $1M to Make-a-Wish foundation. That's an organization that is near and dear to our hearts, as we always raise money for them as well throughout the year, and especially during our National Conference.

Disney Cruise Line unveils the incredible new spaces and experiences coming to the Disney Wish, setting sail in summer 2022. Get a sneak peek at the magic that awaits during this behind-the-scenes look featuring the creative team bringing this new ship to life.

Storytelling and families are in the Disney DNA and the Disney Imagineering team showcased both of these in their design of Disney Wish. From the moment you step onboard the ship into the three story Grand Hall atrium you'll experience the magic of Disney as Cinderella greets guests to welcome them onboard Disney Wish. From there you kids can slide into Disney's Oceaneer Club, a real-life wonderland featuring more spaces and stories than ever before, via their own hidden entrance. Adults can use their very special entrance (the door) as well.

Fun in the sun is taken to a new level with a brand-new family water attraction and three themed districts that offer dedicated space for families, children and adults alike. Pictured above is the first-ever Disney attraction at sea, AquaMouse. You’ll be immersed in “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” animated shorts as you zoom through 760 feet of winding tubes suspended high above the upper decks. There's also an all-new Toy Story-themed district designed especially for families with toddlers and young children.

Disney didn't forget about the older "kids" either. Adults can unwind and relax in the serenity of Quiet Cove, a secluded adults-only district which will feature a luxurious infinity pool, poolside bar, and chic cafe. And of course, kids of all ages will love the enterainment including several musical productions. We can't let the genie out of the lamp just yet (oops we sorta did a little).

Disney is also well known for their fabulous food and dining venues. Three of the new venues include Arendelle: a Frozen Dining Adventure, where characters from Frozen will entertain you throughout dinner, 1923, paying tribute to the year Disney Studios was founded, features California cultural flavors, and Worlds of Marvel is the first-ever Marvel cinematic dining adventure, where you’ll play an interactive role in an action-packed Avengers mission that unfolds around you, complete with a worldly menu inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

There's so much more to tell you about, but as they say, a picture is worth more than a thousand words, so let the show begin ...

We'd love to help plan your next Disney Adventure. Disney Wish opens for booking on May 27th.

That's not all the new Disney magic ... Walt Disney World kicks off their 50th Anniversary on October 1st and Avengers Campus is coming to Disneyland in June. Let us help make your wishes come true with a Magical Disney vacation on a cruise or in one of their theme parks.

Cruising With Kids

2020 has been hard on families
.  For many of you, the entire family has been camped inside the house for weeks or months. By now, everyone is itching to get out and have some fun.

It's just a matter of time before we are able to resume travel.  Planning a vacation with kids can be challenging.  There are so many choices, how do you know what will be right for your family?

That's where we come in - we will get to know you and your family along with your interests, in order to design the perfect vacation for you.  We've been sailing with our family and can give you personal advice.

October is National Plan a Cruise Month, so it's the perfect time to plan a trip for next year.  A small deposit per person can secure your trip, and you can pay the balance off just months before you sail. You can take advantage of availability and deals now, and enjoy your savings next year.

Cruises Are Popular With Families

It's no secret that cruising has become hugely popular with families. Where once it was a struggle to find ships that were kid-friendly, the challenge now is wading through the bevy of activities, kid's clubs, and child-themed bells and whistles many of the newer ships offer to determine which cruise ships are best for your children.

Cruise vacations are popular with families for a lot of reasons.
  • First and foremost, the value of a cruise is terrific since lodging and meals are wrapped up in the fare.
  •  Second, your family can visit many destinations on a cruise without checking in and out of hotels and wrestling with luggage along the way.
  • Finally, cruise lines have perfected the family vacation by offering something for everyone: fine dining, luxurious spa options, pools with waterslides, quiet pools and hot tubs, rock-climbing walls, videogame competitions, pub crawls, and so much more.
With your entire family together and happy, what more could you ask for?

This video will give you an inside peek at what it's like for the entire family.

We'll take a look at some specific kids programs in future posts within this mini-series, so be sure to come back and visit again. (bookmark the link below)

Happy Hanukkah 2017

Happy Hanukkah ! The Holiday Season has arrived. The eight-day Festival of Lights begins tonight December 12th at Sundown and continues through December 20th. At the heart of the festival is the nightly menorah (candelabrum) lighting: a single flame on the first night, two on the second evening, and so on till the eighth night of Chanukah, when all eight lights are kindled.   More info....

We love cruising around the holiday time because the ships are decorated for the season.  As you know the ship's crew is made up of many nationalities and faiths.  So too are the passengers that board the vessel for each cruise.  The cruise lines try to make the environment fitting for all regardless of their beliefs and also will accommodate special requests to help you celebrate.

Holiday time is a time for families. Regardless of the holiday that you celebrate, there is one common theme ... spending time together as a family to celebrate the holiday. As we walked along the decks of the ship and saw the decorations, we couldn't help but think about the ship's crew. For the most part, the crew will not be spending time with families this holiday season. They will be onboard providing service to passengers just like they do every day of the year.

Many of out troops have missed several holidays.   Unfortunately, not all military will be home for the holidays, so once again let us keep the troops and their families in our thoughts, that they remain safe and can one year safely return in time for the holidays.

Whether you are together for the holidays or separated by many miles, may this be a season filled with joy and happiness. Thank you to those that serve, both on the ships and in the military - our thoughts are with you and your families during this time. Happy Holidays to All.

Bottomless Bubbles & Cheers

All You Can Drink
Fun Ship Style

One of the latest trends added by the cruise lines has been beverage programs which makes cruises on par with all-inclusive resorts.  One big difference between the two is that the cost isn't included in the base pricing. That is beneficial to those that don't want to partake in unlimited bubbly and therefore don't pay the premium.

Carnival Conquest Programs

Continuing our coverage of Embarkation Day aboard Carnival Conquest, let's look at two beverage programs that you might want to consider.   Bottomless Bubbles is a soda package that can be optionally purchased that provides unlimited soda fountain drinks, consisting of several Coca Cola products, throughout your voyage.   It must be purchased on Embarkation Day and it is valid for the entire sailing.

The cost on Carnival Conquest during our recent cruise was $4.00 per day for Children and $6.00 per day for Adults.   You can also purchase a Carnival Tumbler for $4.95.   The total price including tip is added to your card and a sticker is affixed to your Sail & Sign card showing proof of purchase.   You simply show your card to the bartender or server and they'll fill up your tumbler if you have one or bring you a glass of soda of your choosing.

Normal price for a "Coke" on the ship was $1.95, so for those that like 3 or more sodas a day, you can break even or be ahead very easily.

Tip:  For families that don't want children drinking soda, there are other choices in the buffet such as lemonade, ice tea, and juices.     Hot coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are also available without cost.

Cheers

For our Adult guests that wish to partake in the "flavor of the day" drink specials and other alcoholic beverages such as beer, wine, and mixed drinks, the Cheers Beverage Program can be purchased for $49.95 per day.  That's a $350+ investment per person on a 7 day cruise.

Is this program worth it? The answer depends on what you like to drink, and how much. Prices for drinks can range from $4.95 for domestic beer to $7.50 for a frozen invention. Wines could be more depending on the selection. There are restrictions, so be aware that not every drink will be included.
Complete details can be obtained onboard and we encourage you to carefully consider whether it is better to purchase as you go or opt in for this program.

Regardless, please do drink responsibly as we don't want to read about you in the news.

TIP:  Check on Deck 9 either before or after you welcome aboard lunch for these and other Embarkation Day specials.

We did take advantage of the Bottomless Bubbles program but decided to purchase our alcoholic beverages as desired during the voyage.  This combination worked fine for us.

Next up:  A special dinner that we arranged during the open house.
