HAPPY BIRTHDAY
GEORGE WASHINGTON
& ABRAHAM LINCOLN
Washington's Birthday is a United States federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February in honor of George Washington, the first President of the United States, and concurrent with Presidents' Day. Washington's Birthday is commonly referred to as Presidents' Day (sometimes spelled President's Day)
Presidents' Day was started by President Nixon, to honor all past
presidents of the United States, and set on the day when Washington's
Birthday was celebrated. Both Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays are in February.
The Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore near Keystone, South Dakota, in the United States. Sculpted by Danish-American Gutzon Borglum and his son, Lincoln Borglum, Mount Rushmore features 60-foot (18 m) sculptures of the heads of former United States presidents (in order from left to right) George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
This monument is often associated with the Presidents's Day holiday. Mount Rushmore National Memorial is visited by nearly three million people each year that come to marvel at the majestic beauty of the Black Hills of South Dakota and learn about the birth, growth, development and preservation of the country.
In honor of Presidents' Day, we've posted a new photo album on our Facebook Fan Page:
