It was a beautiful day in Schaumburg, IL today where Alexian Field, home of the Schaumburg Flyers baseball team, was the location of a fun family day sponsored by Cruises Inc. and Carnival Cruise Line.  The highlight of the day was a cruise giveaway.

Schaumburg Flyers were hosts to the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks for the final game of the series.   Coming off a win Saturday night, hopes were high that the Flyers could win again, but unfortunately that wasn't the case.

The fans didn't seem to mind as it is a fantastic family experience just to be there and watch a baseball game together.   Post game festivities included an Autograph Session and Run the Bases, a favorite among the young fans.

When the Flyers organization approached me at a Streamwood Chamber of Commerce event and asked me to sponsor a cruise giveaway, I immediately thought about partnering with Carnival Cruise Line since both the Flyers and Carnival are all about family fun. Laura, my local Carnival representative, was also excited about the idea and together we planned the event.   It was great talking with so many people at the ballpark about the fantastic family experience aboard one of Carnival's Fun Ships.

Here are some fun facts that visitors to my booth learned about:

Carnival Cruise Lines has 23 ships sailing from 20 home ports to the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexican Riviera, Canada and Europe.

The Carnival Dream sailing from Port Canaveral to the eastern and western Caribbean is the largest Carnival ship. Great for families! Some of the amenities include…cabins that can sleep 5 with 2 bathrooms, Seaside Theatre, kids programs for ages 2 – 17, Carnival Water Works featuring 6 water slides, comedy club, laser light shows at night off the back of the ship, 24 hour room service/pizzeria and ice cream, a huge spa for mom to relax in and much more!

Where can you find the following… award winning entertainment, a waterslide, a full casino, a wonderful spa and fitness center, a sing along piano bar, fabulous food including 24 hour room service and pizzeria, kids programs for ages 2 – 17, a dance club, a Seaside Theatre for movies under the stars, a comedy club, a towel animal on your pillow each night, pampering service…all this at a price so amazing that you can’t afford to stay home…on a Carnival Cruise of course.

In January, the average temperature in Chicago is 24 degrees and the average temperature in the Caribbean is 82 degrees. Trade in your snow shovel for some sunscreen! Take advantage of Carnival’s early saver fares which offer the lowest pricing and get out of town this winter! Gray skies or blue skies…what would you choose?

Chris & Laura with Mallory (contest winner) & Neil
In keeping with the fun atmosphere at the ballpark, the cruise wasn't simply given away but instead a Dizzy Bat Scuba Race was held between two contestants selected in a drawing by Bearon, the Schaumburg Flyers mascot. Mallory and Neil donned scuba gear, spun around 10 times and ran to an orange cone and back to determine the winner. Mallory was the winner but Neil was a great sport. It must have been fate that both of them were at the game since neither of them are from Illinois. They were there visiting friends and family.

Thank you to the Schaumburg Flyers organization and Carnival Cruise Line for helping with this fantastic event. It was great meeting all the fans and talking about my favorite passion, cruising. Hope to see you all on a Carnival Fun Ship in the near future.
