Where is Chris - Historical City

Today we have an easy one for you.  It is in a city named after an individual who made history on this day in 1789.  The kids should know this one for sure.  Where is Chris? Guess where I am.  Learn about this city and the name it's named after.  #KeepTheKidsEngaged

We hope you are enjoying this series of  "Where is Chris" posts.  We'd love your feedback on our social media.

Where is Chris - Blue Domed City

On this day in history in 1967 something took place in today's destination.  Figure out Where is Chris today, and for extra credit, find out what happened that day.

There are several things you can do with children to  #KeepTheKidsEngaged.   For example, they could learn about the featured country and then make a list of places of interest there.  Since tomorrow is Earth Day, perhaps they could learn about the climate in that country.

We hope you are enjoying this series of  "Where is Chris" posts.  We'd love your feedback on our social media.

Where is Chris - Today in History

Today marks the anniversary of a disaster which was unthinkable when it happened.  There are several destinations that have a connection with the disaster.  If you visit this city, there is a museum where you can see the chair pictured below.  Two challenges today:   Can you name the disaster?  Can you tell where I am?

Children can help you search on the web to see if you can solve today's challenge.  On the lighter side, maybe they can design a modern deck chair and draw a picture with them in it, along with the rest of the family and friends.  #KeepTheKidsEngaged

We hope you are enjoying this series of  "Where is Chris" posts.  We'd love your feedback on our social media.

Vote Travel Today

Election Day is Finally Here

According to Power of Travel Coalition
" Everyone loves travel - vacationing, reconnecting with family, attending a productive business meeting or event - but not everyone realizes travel’s significant economic impact. In 2015, travel generated $2.1 trillion for the U.S. economy, supporting 15.1 million American jobs that cannot be outsourced, which is why we need policies that allow the travel industry to thrive.

Travel is a bipartisan industry. In fact, passage of the Travel Promotion Act was among only a few items that both Democrats and Republicans supported. Vote Travel is not an endorsement of any political candidate or a political party; it’s a vote to get America moving."

Personal Benefits of Travel

What would you think if we told you that vacation travel could have a positive impact on your life?  Would you be more apt to take an annual vacation?

U.S. News & World Report has published an article, Why Travel Is Good For Your Health, which among other benefits, shows how your health can be positively impacted by a vacation.

Think about the last time you took a vacation...

Before you left for vacation were you stressed over things going on at work, at home, or with the family?   After a couple days of rest and relaxation on the trip, did your stress level decrease?

Do you find yourself eating at irregular times at home because you have other commitments pulling you in different directions?   On your vacation, did you eat on a regular schedule?

Do you mean to exercise while at home, but just don't find the time?   Or are you a couch potato not getting any exercise at all simply because you are too tired to do anything when you get home from the office?   Did you get more exercise, on your trip - while having a good time exploring?

These are just a few items that are covered in this report.   We suggest you read the report to learn more about the personal benefits of vacation travel.

We have been a firm believer of taking time off every year for vacation.   While our son was growing up, we would take a vacation together with him and another one by ourselves each year.   This formula has worked well for us and perhaps it could work for you as well.

As We Head to the Polls Today

There may be local and national candidates that have a positive or negative view on the travel industry.  We encourage you to visit the  Congressional Scorecard  to learn more about the coalition's efforts to expand this industry which will help to Get America Moving again.

Election Day is Finally Here

According to votetravel.org:

Cruise vacations are well known for fabulous food and beverages served 'round the clock.  While some people may gain weight during their cruise, that doesn't have to be the case as we'll learn in this video clip.

One thing for certain, Allure of the Seas does have some "alluring" food for you to chose from.   Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb were able to sample selections from the various venues including Samba Grill and Cupcake Cupboard.   Watch this video to get an idea about the mouth watering foods available on the Allure of the Seas.

We hope you have enjoyed these clips from the TODAY show. Allure of the Seas is an amazing ship, just like her sister, the Oasis of the Seas. One of the myths about cruising is "there is nothing to do". We'd be amazed if you could still say that after watching these videos.

See you soon from onboard the Allure of the Seas.
