Solarium Bistro Indulgences

Solarium Bistro
Indulge your taste buds with a meal that's just as good as it is good for you.  This contemporary bistro offers health-conscious breakfast and lunch buffets in a casual setting.   The bistro is located in the Solarium, Deck 15 on the Allure of the Seas.

Healthy Main Entrees

The lunch selections on this particular sailing day included Starch Fava Bean and Chick Peas Stew with Root Vegetables, Brown Rice, Crepes Sauteed Shrimp, Mushrooms, Baby Spinach and Roasted Garlic, Crepes Vegetarian, Roasted Onions, Garlic, Mushrooms, Wilted Spinach and Thyme.

Miso Soups, Salad Bar, Fruits & Healthy Desserts

In addition to the main entrees, the bistro features a selection of Miso soups which are traditional Japanese soups consisting of a stock which has miso paste and other ingredients added to it.
Varieties available on this particular day were Chicken Noodle, Baby Shrimp and Brown Rice, and Vegetarian Miso soups.

Healthy Deserts
  Healthy Dessert Selections

The desserts included a selection of various fruits as well as Soya Panna Cotta, Lemon Cup Cake, Sugar-free Pineapple Upside Down Cake, and Fig Bars.

There is a salad bar that includes various types of lettuce and healthy toppings.   Even the salad dressings are of the healthy variety.

We've often said that just because you go on a cruise, you don't have to depart from you healthy eating style.   The Solarium Bistro makes it easy for you to eat healthy while still enjoying a relaxing day in the sun.    Just put on your cover up and stroll from the whirlpool to the bistro for breakfast or lunch.

As night falls,  the Solarium Bistro converts into Samba Grill, a starlit Brazilian-style dining experience, featuring specialty caipirinhas along with rotisserie-roasted meats and seafood, straight off the grill and carved table-side.   There is an additional charge for the dinner.

Cruise vacations are well known for fabulous food and beverages served 'round the clock.  While some people may gain weight during their cruise, that doesn't have to be the case as we'll learn in this video clip.

One thing for certain, Allure of the Seas does have some "alluring" food for you to chose from.   Kathie Lee and Hoda Kotb were able to sample selections from the various venues including Samba Grill and Cupcake Cupboard.   Watch this video to get an idea about the mouth watering foods available on the Allure of the Seas.

Allure of the Seas Keeps Eye on Tomas

Hurricane Tomas Is Between Allure and Fort Lauderdale
Allure of the Seas
Watches Tomas

You might recall that Oasis of the Seas met with high winds and waves during its crossing of the North Atlantic a year ago. (Oasis of the Seas vs North Atlantic)  The Oasis handled herself very well during that storm, but Captain Zini isn't going to take any changes in tangling directly with Hurricane Tomas.

(Update Saturday, November 6th)
Hurricane Tomas weakened briefly on Saturday, but once again regained strength to a Category One Hurricane.  Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles from the center and tropical-storm-winds extend even further to about 200 miles on the west side of the hurricane.

Captain Zini and officers are constantly monitoring the storm and other weather conditions to keep the Allure and crew safe, just as they would with passengers onboard.  In this Day 8 video, he'll discuss the current weather conditions and how they are planning to avoid Tomas.

Samba Grill Opens

He'll then introduce us to Samba Grill, the Brazilian Steakhouse introduced on the Allure of the Seas.   I can't wait to taste and experience this new dining venue.   Allure is the second new vessel to introduce a Brazilian Steakhouse.   In another post, I'll write about the first one at sea, Moderno, which is on Norwegian Epic.
