A Success  

We've just completed our twelfth annual appearance at the Streamwood Summer Celebration's Business Expo sponsored by the Streamwood Chamber of Commerce.  It would have been #13, but we missed one year to go on a river cruise.

"Junior" who is always with us at shows

The Summer Celebration runs the last weekend of July each year and is well attended.  The weather this year was the best of all the years combined.   Usually it rains at least one day, but this time the rain held off until the final hour of the festival (after the expo had already closed).  There was a nice breeze blowing through the Business Expo tent which made it enjoyable.  Best of all, it wasn't humid.

Friday night had large crowds, partly because of the weather, but also the feature band, American English.   Saturday was another gorgeous day with lots of  the traffic in the expo tent.  The evening was busiest due to the featured band, 7th Heaven, drawing the crowds.  Sunday was warmer, but even that didn't keep the crowds away.  Unfortunately, ARRA had to cut their act short when it started to rain.

In addition to show-casing local businesses in the expo tent, there were plenty of activities for families. Local bands performed throughout the weekend, there was a parade on Saturday with about 100 entries this year, rides for the children and young at heart, bingo, face-painting, ice cream eating content for the children and lots more.  Many volunteers from the village make this a special event each and every year.

Lots of Interest in Land & Sea Vacations

We spoke to many couples, families, and individuals that were interested in getting away for a vacation.   As usual, we had a large supply of brochures, which we call "wish books" on hand.  Alaska cruisetours and European River Cruises were the most popular areas of interest in the cruise category.

Europe and Disneyworld were the most popular land tour destinations.  Galapagos and Asia were other destinations with lots of interest among fair goers.   

Since we've had personal travel experiences in all of the above destinations, we were able to provide first-hand knowledge that is valuable when planning a vacation. We love talking to people about our more than 30 years of cruise and other vacation experiences.  It was also great talking with our loyal customers about their experiences and their upcoming plans.

We've just completed our eleventh annual appearance at the Streamwood Summer Celebration's Business Expo sponsored by the Streamwood Chamber of Commerce.  It would have been #12, but we missed one year to go on a river cruise.

In addition to show-casing local businesses in the expo tent, there were plenty of activities for families. Local bands performed throughout the weekend, there was a parade on Saturday with about 100 entries this year, rides for the children and young at heart, bingo, face-painting, ice cream eating content for the children and lots more.  Many volunteers from the village make this a special event each and every year.

We had a spinning wheel Friday & Saturday where participants could spin for promotional items and onboard credits.   Due to high volume those days, some items were in short supply, so it no longer made sense to spin to win.  We love talking to people about our more than 30 years of cruise and other vacation experiences.  It was also great talking with our loyal customers about their experiences and their upcoming plans.

The Summer Celebration runs the last weekend of July each year and is well attended.  The weather cooperated with a variety of temperatures with the rain occurring before the start of the fair on Friday.  Saturday was mild and humid, but that didn't prevent  crowds from attending the event.  Sunday was warmer and more humid, but there still was a breeze keeping the expo tent comfortable.

In addition to show-casing local businesses in the expo tent, there were plenty of activities for families. Local bands performed throughout the weekend, there was a parade on Saturday with over 100 entries this year, rides for the children and young at heart, bingo, face-painting, ice cream eating content for the children and lots more.  Many volunteers from the village make this a special event each and every year.

We spoke to many couples, families, and individuals that were interested in getting away for a vacation.   As usual, we had a large supply of brochures, which we call "wish books" on hand.  One of the most popular brochures was the Royal Caribbean Quantum-class brochure which highlights this marvelous new cruise ship class that has everything you can imagine including bumper cars. 

Unfortunately, I couldn't talk with everyone personally this year because I was splitting my time between my booth and making announcements on stage.  Many of you spoke with my husband Gary, who has as much knowledge about the various vacation options as I do.  We love talking to people about our more than 30 years of cruise and other vacation experiences.

 We've just completed our ninth annual appearance at the Streamwood Summer Celebration's Business Expo sponsored by the Streamwood Chamber of Commerce.

The Summer Celebration runs the last weekend of July each year and is well attended.  The weather cooperated with a variety of temperatures but now rain.  Saturday was hot and humid, but that didn't prevent record crowds from attending the event. The fire department had their hose shooting water in the air for those that wanted to cool off.   They were closely monitoring the wind on Sunday, as gusts were as high as 35 MPH.

In addition to show-casing local businesses in the expo tent, there were plenty of activities for families. Local bands performed throughout the weekend, there was a parade on Saturday with over 100 entries this year, rides for the children and young at heart, bingo, face-painting, ice cream eating content for the children and lots more.  Many volunteers from the village make this a special event each and every year.

Unfortunately, I couldn't talk with everyone personally this year because I was splitting my time between my booth and the Streamwood Chamber of Commerce's booth.   As Vice President of the Chamber, I was kept busy getting the businesses setup on Friday, answering questions at our booth, making announcements, and  judging contests.  I'd like to thank my Executive Assistant, Donna Lenhardt, who was invaluable in getting the event setup and assisting me throughout the weekend. Also thank you to my husband Gary, who has as much knowledge about the various vacation options as I do, for manning my booth.

Special Promotion Continues

Attention car enthusiasts - don't miss the 2013 Streamwood ChamberFest & Car Show this Saturday from 10 AM - 2 PM. There will be several racing cars present as well as some of the local favorites from our monthly shows that are held at The Loop Bar & Grill in Streamwood.

Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas which is currently under construction will feature a multi-purpose entertainment complex which will include bumper cars.

In addition to bumper cars, the ship will include many of the features from the Oasis-class along with some new innovations such as  a parachuting simulator, virtual balconies and many more.  Studio staterooms will allow solo travelers to enjoy their space, inside and out, with 12 of the 28 cabins including balconies.
