Happy 4th Anniversary FoodTravelChat

Best  Food & Travel Chat on Twitter

It's been more than two years since I joined the ranks of the @FoodTravelist team as a moderator of the weekly #FoodTravelChat on Twitter.   Tonight we celebrate our 4th Anniversary.   Don't miss this event - you'll be glad you joined us, and we hope you continue to visit each week.

We have the best fans in Twitter-land!  Each week they join us for a fun-filled hour chatting about two of my favorite topics - Food and Travel.  Together we've traveled the globe, reliving memories of fabulous food and travel experiences.  Tonight we will relive some of those moments over the past years and share some of those highlights.

If you aren't familiar with Twitter chats, the format is pretty simple.   The hosts and moderators post a series of questions spaced out over the hour.  Participants then reply with their answers - images are encouraged since a picture is worth more than words.   So to respond to question Q1, you'd reply with A1: and your answer (don't forget your pictures or gifs).

To follow the chat,  search for #foodtravelchat in your Twitter application and click on Latest to keep up with the conversation.  Join in the conversation by retweeting and / or replying to tweets.   You'll get the hang of it pretty quickly just by watching for a few minutes.  Tell us where you are tweeting from - we have people join each week from all over the globe.  They stay up all hours of the day and night just to join in the fun.   See you tonight at 8 PM Eastern time.

Happy 4th of July

Independence Day 2009
Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, political speeches and ceremonies, and various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the national day of the United States

I hope that you are enjoying a wonderful Fourth of July with family and friends. Across the globe, there are many families that are apart from loved ones. Those are the men and women of the Armed Forces who are serving to protect those freedoms that we celebrate today. Let us salute those men and women who sacrifice so that we can enjoy this holiday.

The photo in this article was not taken on the Fourth of July, but rather when I was onboard Disney Wonder for a Southern Caribbean voyage. Across America today, you'll see similar displays in the night skies (weather permitting). Enjoy your freedom today.

I'd like to thank all the military personnel, past and present, for serving their country. Many of the cruise lines offer military discounts. If you know someone who has served, make sure they are aware of these discounts - it's the least we can do for them that have made this day possible.
