Buccaneers' Bay

You'll find the tour information and booking desk at Buccaneer's Bay, where you can book any remaining available spots for excursions. This is also the meeting point for our watercraft and boat tours. There is plenty to choose from including the WaveJet tour, Parasailing, Arawaky Snorkel Adventure, Haitian Hydro Highlights Express, Discover Haiti, Sandbar Rendezvous, Haitian Cultural Tour and Snorkel Safaris.

Dragon's Plaza

Located just outside Buccaneers' Bay. Here you'll be able to enjoy a barbecue style lunch buffet at the Dragon's Café. Dragon's Plaza is also the start of the longest beach on Labadee. Although not suitable for swimming (visit the beach at Columbus Cove instead), it is the perfect place to soak up the sun and listen to the sounds of the ocean. Be sure to take a walk out to Dragon's Head (a breathtaking natural rock formation). 

Labadee Town Square

Labadee Town Square boasts an expanded version of the popular artisan market and a festive atmosphere that comes alive with music, folkloric dancers and more. This location offers convenient meeting places where guests can enjoy the rich Haitian culture and take in shopping, shows, cultural activities and other memorable experiences.

At the end of your day at the beach, catch a tram ride back to Buccaneer's Bay where it's just a short walk to the exit and back to your awaiting ship.

Adrenaline Beach

Not only is this beach brand new, but it is also home to Labadee's newest attraction, the Dragon's Tail Coaster. Located by Labadee Town Square, Adrenaline Beach features soccer, basketball and beach volleyball games.

During our visit, we had olympic style games there raising money for "Make-A-Wish Foundation"  as part of our National Conference activities.

Columbus Cove

This family friendly spot is located in a protected cove that allows for swimming and floating on a beach mat. Trees along the sandy beach provide natural shade great for relaxation. Columbus Cove boasts one of the largest aqua parks in the Caribbean. The young and young at heart alike will enjoy family activities including: climbing "icebergs," the log roll, the teeter-totter, trampolines and a new water slide. This is also the site of one of our barbecue lunch buffet areas.

Nellie's Beach

Simply a slice of paradise. Want to enjoy a nice leisurely kayak trip to take in the sights of the surrounding coast and nearest village? Nellie's Beach is now home to the Kayak Adventure. You can also enjoy floating beach mats and complimentary beach lounge chairs on this picture perfect beach.

Barefoot Beach Club

Exclusively for Royal Caribbean International's Grand suites and above guests, the Barefoot Beach Club offers a total of 20 private cabanas along the water's edge and within the hillside areas. Enhanced food and beverage services are also available.





Guests are now able to dock directly on the Labadee coastline without having to tender onto a smaller vessel. This gives guests more time to enjoy the spectacular activities available on their own private beach destination. The pier stretches 1,300 feet (pier and trestle) in length and even allows the 225,282 gross registered tonnage berth of the Oasis of the Seas^®, Allure of the Seas^®, Freedom of the Seas^® and Liberty of the Seas^®.

On Saturday, July 30th, we began tracking a potential tropical storm that had formed 900 miles from the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean Sea.  There was a strong probability that it could become a tropical cyclone as it moved into more favorable waters.   On Monday August 1st, it became the fifth tropical storm of the 2011 Atlantic Hurricane Season and was named EMILY.  Several governments issued tropical storm watches and warnings as the storm intensified.

After soaking Hispaniola and other nearby islands, TS Emily had become a remnant low but there was a high chance that it could regenerate into a tropical cyclone.   One week from its initial formation, Emily is once again a Tropical Depression as it now dumps heavy rains on the Bahamas.   Some cruise itineraries had been impacted and cruise lines are once again monitoring the storm for any additional changes.

Cruise Itinerary Changes

Currently, sailings for Norwegian Sky (8/5/11), Norwegian Jewel (8/6/11) and Norwegian Gem (8/7/11) will continue as scheduled. However, should weather conditions change, some of these itineraries may be modified.

HAITI EARTHQUAKE

Royal Caribbean Humanitarian Relief - Haiti

On January 12, 2010, a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 M_w earthquake struck 16 miles west of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, the capital of the country. Current estimates indicate that about three million people were affected by the quake with as many as 200,000 people believed to be dead. The earthquake caused major damage to Port-au-Prince significantly damaging or destroying most major landmarks, including the Presidential Palace.

For almost 30 years, Royal Caribbean International has been an important foreign investor in Haiti. Their private beach destination in Haiti, Labadee®, was undamaged by this week's massive earthquake in the country. This privately-run retreat offers passengers beaches, watersports, a Haitian flea market and a zip-line. Labadee® is the biggest provider of tourist revenue in the country and employs hundreds of Haitians.

Immediate Response to Earthquake

Royal Caribbean announced today its plans to provide at least $1 million in humanitarian relief to Haiti in response to the catastrophic earthquake. They will be partnering with charitable organizations such as Food for the Poor, Pan American Development Foundation, and the Solano Foundation, the company's foundation in Haiti to provide additional assistance to the people of Haiti. Royal Caribbean will also be delivering much needed goods and supplies to Haiti via their cruise ships.

The following ships will be delivering goods to Haiti, such as: rice, dried beans, powdered milk, water, canned goods and other supplies. When the supplies arrive in Labadee®, they will be transported to an offsite location to be distributed by Food for the Poor, a long time partner of Royal Caribbean in Haiti.

Guests onboard the Oasis of the Seas December 1, 2009, special voyage will be the first to experience improvements to Royal Caribbean International's private beach destination of Labadee, Haiti. This private beach resort has been a longtime favorite for cruisers on Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.

The multi-year project, which began in the summer of 2007, was a joint venture between the Haitian government and Royal Caribbean International. The major enhancement was the renovation to the island's pier to allow for the accommodation of Royal Caribbean's Freedom- and Oasis-class ships. The dining venues and upland areas underwent a major overall including the construction of new bars and the renourishment of area beaches.

According to Royal Caribbean, all renovations to the pier and dining venues have been completed, establishing a 57 percent growth in dining capacity and introducing a new pier area that stretches 1,300 feet (Pier and Trestle) in length and allows the berth of the 225,282 GRT Oasis of the Seas.

Two areas new to Labadee and central to the redesign of the destination are Dragon's Plaza and Labadee Town Square, both of which offer convenient meeting places where guests can enjoy the rich Haitian culture and take in shopping, shows, cultural activities and other memorable experiences. Within Dragon's Plaza, Columbus Cove Beach offers family-friendly attractions including water slides, which complement the area's aqua park. Labadee Town Square boasts an expanded version of the popular artisan market and a festive atmosphere that comes alive with music, folkloric dancers and more.

The new Dragon's Tail Coaster offers a high-speed ride through 2,232 feet of the destination's tropical flora and rock formations. Upland-area favorites like Barefoot Beach Club, dedicated for the use of Royal Caribbean's suite guests, offers enhanced food and beverage services, and a total of 20 private cabanas are available for rent along the water's edge and within the hillside areas. The spa facilities at Barefoot Beach have also been revamped to provide an Oasis-like feel, and an expanded area has been set aside for yoga classes and other spa services.

"Oasis will offer a new dimension to our onboard guest experience," said Adam Goldstein, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. "These new major additions to Labadee will further expand offerings for our guests, and we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate the first sailing of Oasis of the Seas than with a special cruise to our already popular private beach destination."

The new adventures join a list of already popular activities, including the Dragon's Breath Flightline, which was introduced in 2007 and offers pristine aerial views of Labadee's coral reefs and crystal blue waters for individuals brave enough to take the ride down the 2,633 foot cable zip-line. Labadee's Wave Jet Adventure also is still available, offering guided journeys down one of the wildest coasts in the Caribbean via personal SeeDoo watercrafts.
