Where is Chris - Second Sunday Easter

Today is the Second Sunday of Easter.  When Pope John Paul canonized Sr. Faustina (making her St. Faustina), he also, on the same day, surprised the entire world by establishing Divine Mercy Sunday (the feast day associated with the message) as a feast day for the entire Church. The feast day falls on the Second Sunday of the Easter season. On that day, Pope John Paul II declared, "This is the happiest day of my life."

Children may have heard about Pope John Paul II.  Showing mercy to others would be a good lesson to learn.  #KeepTheKidsEngaged

Visitors from all over the world as well as the Netherlands will be visiting the Keukenhof international flower exhibition over the Easter holiday. The park is in flower and wonderful shows can be seen in the pavilions. Keukenhof is the ideal place for kicking off your Easter holiday in style.

Introducing Studio Accommodations

Norwegian Cruise Line Gives Solo Travelers a Reason to Cruise on Norwegian Epic

Innovative concept focuses on Studios specifically designed and priced for the solo traveler

Norwegian Epic's Studio staterooms are the first to be designed and priced for single occupancy.

Norwegian Cruise Line announced a completely new concept to make cruising more attractive to solo travelers on their new ship, Norwegian Epic, launching this July. Norwegian Epic's Studios are the first staterooms designed and priced for single occupancy in the industry.

These specially designed and priced Studio staterooms available on all of Norwegian Epic's sailings - with no single supplement - go on sale Monday, January 18, 2010.

Studio
Lounge

The Studios on Norwegian Epic are a private key-card access complex on two decks consisting of 128 staterooms and the Studio Lounge. The Studio staterooms are approximately 100 square feet of living space. They feature a contemporary design with a full-size bed and separate areas for the bathroom, sink and shower.

Studio guests have private access to the Studio Lounge where they can have a cup of coffee in the morning, meet up with fellow cruisers and plan their day or relax with a drink in the evening. Since many of the Studio staterooms are connecting, there is also the opportunity for friends to travel together while giving each their own private space.

Happy Easter from the Netherlands

I'm writing this post from AMA Waterways Amalegro enroute to Volendam. We arrived in Amsterdam yesterday and took a taxi to the ship which was docked at Ruijterkade oost. For those that have been to Amsterdam before, that is just a few blocks from Central Station.
It is also a few blocks from the Passenger Terminal where the larger ships dock.

The crew took our bags and we checked in at the reception desk. They kept our passports, at least for the first couple of days, since the cruise goes from the Netherlands to Belgium and back.

The cabins wouldn't be ready until 3 PM, so we relaxed for awhile in the lounge and then had some lunch before taking a little stroll along the waterfront and the area near Central Station. There are lots of shops and places to eat nearby. Not far from there is the famous Red Light District.

Since we didn't want to wear ourselves out the first day, we didn't do too much walking. We have been to Amsterdam twice before, so that was another reason why we could relax a bit.

Shortly after returning to the ship, our cabin was ready so we went there and unpacked. We had free time until 5 PM when the crew gave us a briefing about safety and our itinerary. The evening festivities started off with a local dance group providing entertainment and was followed by dinner.

After dinner, everyone went to bed, especially since most people had flown in the same day and were feeling a little jet lag. Today started early with breakfast followed by our first excursion. I'll tell you more about our Easter Sunday in my next post.
